About the company
People who suffer with heel pain don't
want to get out of bed in the morning. Why? Because those first few steps feel
like you have a sharp nail in your heel. About 12 years ago I was one of
those individuals.
Well, I found out that I wasn't alone,
studies show that one in every eight people with more than 3 million new people each year suffer with this problem. Although not
always
disabling, it does cause severe discomfort, which can effect your daily
activities. After receiving treatment from two doctors and a couple of steroid
shots in my heel, I decided I needed a way to eliminate those first painful
morning steps and get on with my life. And as many others have found, I just
couldn't stand wear that uncomfortable night splint boot my doctor had
presrcibed. I thought if I could just find a more comfortable way to hold my
foot in a certain position maybe it wouldn't hurt so bad when I got out of bed
in the morning.
Using a tube sock, a piece of material, and
my wife's sewing machine, late one night I devised a crude device to hold my
foot in position while sleeping. The next morning I felt a significant reduction
of pain as I took those first steps out of bed. After a couple more nights
wearing my "brainstorm", the pain had almost disappeared. Not knowing how it
worked just that it did, I contacted a friend that was a physical therapist and
together we worked out the details and applied for a patent. Two years later, in
1995, we received a US patent (5,399,155) and FDA approval for the sale of the
Strassburg SockTM.
Initial sales were to podiatrists, then in
1996 our presence on the world wide web and our sales grew, not only to medical
professionals but to individual sufferers as far away as Indonesia, Australia, Europe, The United Kingdom, and Canada. Today we have a
large medical base consisting of Podiatrists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Sports
Medicine Clinics internationally
A study was published in the
July/August 2002 edition of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery. The study
revealed that using the Strassburg SockTM significantly reduced the recovery
time for patients suffering with Plantar Fasciitis.
In 2003,
Runner's World magazine published and article detailing the results of the
study and it has gone on to help thousands or runners with this common injury.
In 2004,
Running
Times magazine said in an injury prevention article that the Strassburg
Sock, "Helps cure plantar fasciitis. More comfortable and significantly
cheaper than the "boot" prescribed by most doctors."
With these facts and the already thousands of satisfied users we are poised for
significant growth by helping people everywhere relieve their heel pain.
